During Tuesday’s episode of CBS Daytime talk show The Talk, 41-year-old Ruff Ryders rapper and talk show co-host Eve opened up about how she is experiencing some of the most difficult and overall tough conversations with her British husband, Maximillion Cooper since the protests have taken place across the country. The interracial couple divide their time between London and Los Angeles as they combined lives when they eloped in June 2014. Eve later joined The Talk as one of the co-hosts in late 2017 as she replaced Aisha Tyler. The hosts all shared their reactions to the protests that are currently taking place as Eve shares:

“I am in an interracial relationship and I am having some of the most difficult and uncomfortable conversations I think that I’ve ever had with my husband… but at the same time it’s a beautiful thing because he could never see my life through my eyes and vice versa,”

“…all he can do is try to understand and try to ask the questions — and he wants to understand and that’s what the nation – that’s what the world has to do. It’s going to be uncomfortable. Yeah! It’s going to be uncomfortable but we have to be okay with being uncomfortable so that we can get to a solution.”

The co-host and actress reveals that watching the peaceful protesters have been keeping her calm during this time as she stays glued to the television.

“We are under rock bottom. The only thing we can do now is to build up. I pray that we can build up from here.”

Eve received some backlash on Twitter as many fans question how she has been married to the white British Director and Film Producer for over five years without having conversations about race. Others tease that Maximillion Cooper is just now realizing he is married to a black woman.
