Ella Mai came out of nowhere to dominate the summer of 2018. Well over a year earlier, Ella Mai released her single, “Boo’d Up.” Ella Mai spent months performing the song in hole in the wall clubs. However, Ella Mai saw “Boo’d Up” go viral in the spring of 2018.

Ella Mai was already signed to DJ Mustard’s 10 Summers label. With Ella Mai having Interscope Records behind her, she took over the game. Soon, Ella Mai had a summer anthem, and her debut album out. The year of 2018 saw Ella Mai also have success with “Trip,” her follow-up single.

Ella Mai had a little controversy, when Jacquees remade her single, “Trip.” After Jacquees remade “Trip,” he put it on streaming platforms. Not much later, Jacquees saw his version of “Trip” removed. Fans who liked Jacquees’ version blamed Ella Mai for removing the song. However, DJ Mustard came forward to say he did it, because Jacquees stole from his 10 Summers label.

Ella Mai has continued releasing music, over the past four years. However, Ella Mai has not had the same levels of commercial success. Now, Ella Mai is back in the studio, preparing for the release of her second album. Currently, Ella Mai is promoting Heart on My Sleeve, which is coming soon.
