A few weeks ago, Van (Zazie Beetz) was fired from her teaching job, due to smoking marijuana. The most-recent episodes have seen the focus back on Earn (Donald Glover, Jr.). As usual, Earn has been on the paper chase with Paperboi (Brian Tyree Henry).
Earn, however, has shown back up with Van for a Juneteenth social event. Here, Van is hoping to rub shoulders with the elite to land another teaching job. While Van is making her rounds, the man hosting the event corners Earn off.
The man, Craig (who happens to be white), continues to make racially-inclusive comments, with every sentence mentioning Earn is black. His conversation shifts to Africa, when he questions Earn about which nation he is from, to which Earn doesn’t know. When he answers the man, he tells him “There was this spooky thing called slavery that wiped out my cultural existence” and this hysterical line has Twitter in stitches.
