For one reason or the other, rumors have had Drake headed out of the Young Money fold. This comes despite Drake being the biggest team player in the camp. Perhaps more than any other team member, however, Drake has worked closely with Maybach Music.
During the spring of 2011, there were rumors of Drake falling out with Lil Wayne and Birdman. These rumors had Drake headed to another label. This coincided with Drake’s long series of collaborations with Rick Ross in 2011.
With Drake establishing his OVO brand and talking with Jay-Z, rumors have him also headed to Roc Nation. However, many of the biggest rappers in the game are under management with Roc Nation. Drake ultimately chose to place his OVO brand alongside Maybach Music at Warner Bros. Records, which surprised many. But, while he was in Houston, Drake made it clear he is still YMCMB.
