Drake had social media on fire on Friday as he released his ‘Laugh Now Cry Later’ single featuring Lil Durk. The music video was also put out which featured cameos from star athletes such as Odell Beckham Jr, Marshawn Lynch, and Kevin Durant at the Nike Headquarters in Beaverton, OR.
Drake also announced that his upcoming sixth studio album would be tidied ‘Certified Lover Boy.’ According to Complex, he tried to get the copyright for this back in February via his lawyer, Robert Kleinman. The copyright would’ve applied for music recordings, TV, movie and live events, and clothing. The U.S Patent & Trademark Office has now denied this, though.
There are multiple reasonings for this denial. There is a likelihood of confusion. These are due to the the name being similar to Lover’s Lane, a sexual clothing store from Michigan. They have the “Loverboy.” The title of Drake’s album may also be confused with the Canadian rock band Loverboy as they’ve had their trademark since 1984.
Drake is supposedly all good as far as promoting his Certified Lover Boy title on merchandise goes. As of now, there is still no official release date for it. He initially announced The project prior to midnight of May 1.
