Things did not turn out as expected for Nas this year, however, strides were made in the right direction. Fans were given a sample of his Life is Good album, with his debut single, “Nasty.” Before the end of the summer, an official video for the song was also released.

In 2006, Nas returned to the headlines with several surprising moves. While he ended his feud with Jay-Z the year before, he shocked fans and friends when he decided to sign with Def Jam, which was led by Jay-Z. The next surprising move from Nas was the title of his album, Hip Hop is Dead.

During this time, DJ Premier announced he and Nas would soon come together to begin working on a collaborative album. Throughout his career, Nas has gone through several changes, but DJ Premier has been one person to remain constant. Despite the delays on their collaborative album, DJ Premier said the album is still in the works, as he has submitted several tracks to Nas.

While DJ Premier hopes Nas will begin working on their album, he does understand Nas has albums planned to be released before their project.
