In the past, several Memphis rappers have talked about the lack of unity within their local hip hop scene. At one point, DJ Paul and Yo Gotti beefed over the King of Memphis title. Both have “KOM” at the end of their social media handles, but Torch told DJ Louie Styles that kings and queens died out in the 1700s.
Last year, Memphis’ overall music scene had an unprecedented expansion. This led to Juicy J emerging as one of the biggest rappers in the game, DJ Paul having success, and Yo Gotti cementing his position in the game. During this expansion, the beef between DJ Paul and Yo Gotti ended.
Even though the beef has been over for a while, DJ Paul decided to make it more official with an Instagram post. After running into Yo Gotti, DJ Paul took a picture with him and he posted a message about there being a new day in Memphis and signaling unity. Both Yo Gotti and DJ Paul have brought tons of recognition to Memphis over the past decade and some change.
