On the heels of “Do You Mind,” DJ Khaled dropped a single with Jay-Z and Beyonce, called “Shining.” The song had the sounds of a hit, although it didn’t perform to well on radio. Still, the statement was made and Khaled said “I worked my whole life for this one,” on the record.
Last year, it was impossible to see how DJ Khaled could improve upon his stellar 2016 performance. With one song, it was clear Khaled would own 2017. His single, “Wild Thoughts,” with Rihanna and Bryson Tiller has the staying power.
Competition is stiff for DJ Khaled, as 2017’s MVP, with Cardi B shutting it down, Kendrick Lamar, Future, and French Montana all having big years. But, DJ Khaled is all about doing him, posting with Martin Lawrence at the BET Hip Hop Awards. After that, he shared BET’s news of him hosting the Hip Hop Awards.
