A lot of emphasis is put on the hip hop scenes of New York, Los Angeles, and Atlanta, meanwhile most other areas are labeled by regions. No doubt, when “the South” was running the game, a ton of hits were coming from Miami. At one point, Trick Daddy was single-handedly responsible for Miami’s appearances on the hip hop charts.
Later, Trick Daddy’s label home, Slip-N-Slide Records put Trina out and then Rick Ross, who was friends with DJ Khaled. Early in their careers, few picked the latter two to elevate the hip hop scene in Miami to new heights. But, this is exactly what happened, as they cranked out hit after hit.
Trick Daddy appeared on some early DJ Khaled hits, most-notably “I’m So Hood,” but has since slipped to the background. Meanwhile, DJ Khaled and Rick Ross have reached new heights, both paying homage to Trick Daddy, recently. DJ Khaled did his this morning, reciting the lyrics to a Trick Daddy rap in his Instagra video.
