Still, years after the fact, Fabolous is probably still best-known for his “Breathe” single. During his history as a mixtape rapper, Fabolous had built his name as a hardcore rapper. But, once he became a major-label artist, Fabolous became known for his singles such as “Can’t Leave You Alone” and “So Into You.”
Heading into 2004, Fabolous took it back to his mixtape roots with Real Talk. Set out to prove he still had street credibility, Fabolous released his “Breathe” single. The music video helped start the career of Erica Mena, who is now on VH1’s “Love & Hip Hop.” Most importantly, Fab rebuilt his street cred that continues through his mixtapes.
Nine years after releasing “Breathe” as a single, Fabolous finally speaks on the lyrics on the track. Speaking with Life + Times for their popular “DECODED” series, Fabolous broke down the lyrics of “Breathe.” Fabolous explained where the lyrics came from and what they meant in regards to the song.
