Death Penalty is Reportedly Not Being Pursued By Prosecutors, Against One of Pop Smoke’s Alleged Killers, 20-Year-Old Corey Walker [VIDEO]

It’s been over a year and a half since hip-hop lost rising 20-year-old Brooklyn rapper Pop Smoke. He was shot and killed last February, after masked gunmen stormed the Hollywood Hills property that he was renting. At 4am, Smoke was getting out the shower, and that’s when a woman at the home was held at gunpoint. The Brooklyn rapper ended up being shot, kicked on the ground, and shot again.

Smoke’s Rolex and Cuban link chain ended up being stolen, as the watch was only sold for $2,000. A 15-year-old was said to have pulled the trigger. Another suspect in the murder is 20-year-old Corey Walker. For this man, he will not be facing the death penalty, according to The Shade Room.

Walker was in court this morning, for an arraignment, and that’s when prosecutors told a judge that the death penalty is not on the table. Deputy District Attorney Hilary Williams says that Walker could receive a life sentence without parole, though.

Two months ago, Walker and the 15-year-old suspect both admitted to informants that they were involved in Smoke’s murder, according to the New York Daily News. This was done by putting the informants in their jail cells. Walker will also be entering a formal plea in court, on Wednesday.
