When Nas and Jay-Z first began beefing, it was something that captured the attention of the entire hip hop world. Hip hop was still a bit shook after the Biggie/Tupac mess, so this was hip hop’s first peaceful beef. All of this led to Dame Dash, the lead executive of Roc-A-Fella Records, getting involved in the beef.
Nas took on the entire Roc-A-Fella Records camp in “Ether,” a diss track that still gets played daily. Continuing his career and effectively ending the beef, after Jay-Z and Nas made peace, even he had to give “Ether” props. The entire Roc-A-Fella camp has given props to Nas for his efforts, going after the whole team.
Currently, Nas is celebrating the twentieth anniversary of Illmatic, which officially takes place tomorrow. Because of this, a lot of media outlets have sat down with various people to speak on Nas. Dame Dash talked to BET about Nas and his memory was the “Ether” diss.
