The coronavirus outbreak around the world has caused panic everywhere as we’ve seen professional sports league not let media around athletes and in Italy, fans aren’t even allowed at stadiums as the country is in a complete lockdown. The SXSW festival/conference in Austin, TX set to take place this month was also sadly canceled.

The famous Coachella festival also looks like it’s in jeopardy as well. Tonight, Billboard reported that it would be 48 hours before we know if it would be in any real danger. Coachella takes place in Indio, California and Riverside County has six cases of the virus.

Coachella was originally set to go down on the weekends of April 10 and 19 but according to Yashar Ali of New York Magazine and the Huffington Post, a source close to him says that the coronavirus concerns are now postponing Coachella to the weekends of October 9 and 16. Among the scheduled headliners were Travis Scott, Frank Ocean, 21 Savage, Summer Walker, DaBaby, Lana Del Ray, Lil Uzi Vert, Ari Lennox, and more.

As many imagine, major artists like these have different schedules in the fall. Some may not be able to agree to the rescheduled dates. Fans also have reservations and flights that would have to be changed and that process is very difficult to go through. As of now though, the lineups that were originally scheduled will remain the same for October.

Yes, the concern about this virus is understandable but Coachella doesn’t take place for two more months. There shouldn’t be anything postponed. Check out the postponement announcement along with the lineups for the festival below .
