Ever since the current race debate began, Charles Barkley has been one of the more vocal Black celebrities. However, his comments have led to backlash from the Black community. The backlash only increased when it was announced that Barkley is hosting “The Race Card” on TNT.
Charles Barkley gained fame as an NBA star, winning the league’s MVP award in 1993. That same year, he led the Phoenix Suns to the Finals, losing to Michael Jordan’s Chicago Bulls. In 2000, Charles Barkley retired and soon began commentating on TNT.
Now, Charles Barkley is hosting “The Race Card” with TNT and he is catching tons of heat on Twitter. Fans are very creative and they have a new trend. They have started the #RejectedBarkleyShows trend with titles of shows they think Barkley would host, with a clever play on words.
