Charlamagne Tha God always represents his home state of South Carolina faithfully and that continued as he paid a visit to HBCU, South Carolina State University. He performed a very good deed as he awarded a $250,000 scholarship fund to the university.

Charlamagne posted a video online of him at the SCSU homecoming football game with the huge $250k check. He said the reasoning for the scholarship is that his mother is an alumna of the school. (class of 1975) It’s called “The Ford Family Endowed Scholarship Fund.” Ford is his mother’s maiden name and also his grandmother’s last name.

The scholarship will be awarded to black women at SCSU who major in English as that was his mother’s major, students in communications because of Charlamagne being in the broadcasting industry, and any woman at the school who wants to be a mental health professional. Charlamagne is a strong advocate of mental health and he’s done a great job using his platform to discuss it.

Charlamagne added that investing in HBCUs is the future of black people so whenever someone is available to donate to one, they’re strongly encouraged to do so. Big salute to him for his huge contribution to SCSU and putting this scholarship in his mother’s name.
