Pioneering, Cathy Hughes rose the ranks to build a media conglomerate, during very intense times. Her overall company is called Urban One, but Radio One is the name its best-known by. In 2004, they ventured into TV, with their TV One network.
Cathy Hughes built this company, with one radio station, sleeping in that station. Beginning as the only host, Hughes had a plan. This plan has seen the company venture into television and internet, buying a portfolio of websites that are very valuable.
Recently, Cathy Hughes visited “The Breakfast Club,” where she spoke with DJ Envy, Angela Yee, and Charlamagne Tha God. She shared her unique relationship with Howard University, and how she built Urban One, which led to her speaking on how she spots radio talent. The conversation also went to DMX, who did his last interview on TV One, and much more.
