When it comes to the hip hop culture, there are certain figures who are considered gatekeepers. Definitely included in this list are Ice Cube and Sway, both of which happen to be West Coast legends. Both started as emcees and expanded to be much more.
In Ice Cube’s case, he’s become a cultural icon from the film perspective. After his chilling portrayal of Doughboy in Boyz N The Hood, Ice Cube showed the world the ghetto wasn’t all bad. He did this with Friday, which KD Aubert discussed with Hip Hop Vibe.
Ice Cube, Regina Hall, Eve, Common, and Cedric The Entertainer sat down with Sway to discuss the new movie. Each of them has a deep history in the industry and with the project. They all shared various stories from their time involved with the Barbershop series.
