Cardi B’s “WAP” Single With Megan Thee Stallion Reaches 3x Platinum Status

Cardi B has had a huge second half of 2020 as it started in August with the release of her new single, “WAP,” featuring Megan Thee Stallion. This record debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. First, it was the top trending topic on social media. The music video also went viral. It featured cameos from stars such as Kylie Jenner, Normani, Mulatto, and more.

WAP currently stands at No. 23 on the Hot 100 and continues to build its momentum from the day it was released. Now, it has been certified 3x platinum by the RIAA in the US, according to Chart Data. This is after selling 3 million units.

Cardi also revealed that she did not submit WAP to the GRAMMYS for consideration to be nominated for its January 2021 ceremony. This is due to her wanting to release her sophomore album first. Following that process, she would then want the nominations for WAP. If that happened this fall, it was expected that the single would’ve been nominated in multiple categories.

After WAP’s original release, Cardi and Megan used the success of it to help women. The two partnered with Twitter and Cash App for the #WAPParty trend where they gave away $1 million to women to celebrate women empowerment. All users had to do was explain why they deserved the funds as they included their Cash App user name.
