Cardi B’s 2020 Chart-Topping “WAP” Single Featuring Megan Thee Stallion, Reaches 5x Platinum Status

Cardi B has been red-hot ever since last fall when she put out her “WAP” single featuring Megan Thee Stallion. This was the first single for Cardi since spring 2019’s “Press” as well. WAP ended up debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and the music video was a viral sensation as well as it featured cameos from Kylie Jenner, Mulatto, Normani, and more.

WAP’s momentum has rolled over into 2021 as well as Cardi is about to receive another plaque. According to Chart Data, it has now sold over 5 million units units in the US. This makes it eligible for a 5x platinum certification by the RIAA.

Cardi recently scored another hit with “Up,” which debuted at No. 2 last month. Both Up and WAP are expected to appear on Cardi’s sophomore album. There is still no finalized title or release date for this project yet, though. She did reveal to Jimmy Fallon though that she’s a few songs away from the album being completed.
