Bun B is teaching Rice University’s free online course on religion and hip hop

There is a lot to admire about Bun B, as he first gained fame as a member of UGK. Most initially considered the group effectively over when Pimp C died, in 2007. But, as one man, Bun B managed to keep the group together even when one half of the group died.

Bun B gained plenty of mainstream looks when Jay-Z featured both him and Pimp C, as UGK, on “Big Pimpin.” The song opened many bigger doors for Bun B, as he made himself commercially viable. Now, Bun B has made an even bigger transition.

Rice University recently started a free online course on religion and hip hop. They enlisted Bun B to be the instructor of this new course, which will begin on March 24. Of course, Bun B’s background as a hip hop artist makes him a suitable candidate to be the lecturer of the course.
