The legendary super producer and songwriter, Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds, takes to Instagram Live and brags on 41-year-old singer/songwriter Brandy as he reminisces on meeting the “I Wanna Be Down” singer at a very young age.

“She was one of the best voices that I had ever heard as such a young girl singing so good. Whitney said “This girl can sing. This girl is going to be me one day.” Whitney actually said that.”

Babyface explains that Brandy was excited to record for the first time with him and was ready and prepared. She nailed the backgrounds and owned the song so well, that it gave the iconic producer chills. As we all know, Babyface has recorded with some of the best musicians there are, but he brags on Brandy being the best that he ever worked with and had ever seen.

The producer of over 26 number-one R&B hits and 11 Grammy Awards shares with his fans that he was glad that Whitney agreed to have Brandy sing the song that was originally written for Aaliyah. He played the 90’s hit single, “Sittin’ Up In My Room” as Brandy’s youthful and sultry voice serenades the catchy lyrics that R&B fans all over love and sing to this day.

The track was one of the singles written for the soundtrack of the 1995 film Waiting to Exhale, which soon reached number two on the US Billboard Hot 100, becoming Brandy’s most successful single on that particular chart up to that point.

Brandy went on to sell over six million copies worldwide and would later dive into television and film where she flourished as well.
