Last season, two teams who dramatically disappointed, compared to other seasons, were the Washington Wizards and LA Clippers. In the case of the Clippers, they were forced to make changes. Once it was clear Chris Paul wanted out, he was traded to the Rockets.
Then, during the early part of the season, Blake Griffin was also traded, with him landing with the Detroit Pistons. This left Austin Rivers essentially leading the team, as Tobias Harris took over. Despite it all, the Clippers finished with a winning record, but missing the playoffs.
Meanwhile, the Washington Wizards kept their core intact, but injuries took them from a top-four team to the eight seed. They were not a tough out, but still lost to the Raptors. Now, they have traded Marcin Gortat for Austin Rivers, Doc’s son, and Twitter is full of jokes about loyalty, busting out the Will Smith memes, but the Clippers’ fans are just glad he’s gone, and they care less about his 2016 injury.
