In 2009, Asher Roth burst on to the scene and immediately drew comparisons to Eminem, for the obvious reasons. When white rappers attempt to enter the game, they are automatically compared to Eminem. Asher Roth fell victim to these comparisons, despite having a completely different style from Eminem. The comparisons remained, however, because their voices were eerily similar.

Throughout 2009, Asher Roth enjoyed a successful year. He began the year being featured on several top hip hop websites. However, by the summer, Asher Roth was making appearances on television. It seemed as if nothing could stop Asher Roth’s run at the top, until he made negative comments about President Obama, when he won the Nobel Peace Prize.

Since that time, Asher Roth has struggled to reconnect with his target audience. During his absence, Mac Miller has risen to fill the void. Mac Miller reached out to Asher Roth, who has co-signed the young rapper and the two have plans on collaborating. During a 2011 interview, Mac Miller said he studied Asher Roth’s mistakes and learned what not to do in the rap game. After those comments were made, there were many who felt as though a beef would erupt between the two rappers.

In the wake of new feuds with Waka Flocka Flame and Wiz Khalifa, along with Drake and Common, Asher Roth has come out to deny having any issues with Mac Miller. Asher Roth said Mac Miller is a good kid and he spoke about supporting the fellow Pittsburgh rapper. Focused on his album with Def Jam, Asher Roth said he is not going to hate on anyone. However, he did say he feels he deserves a little credit for first introducing the public to the Pittsburgh hip hop scene, but it is not anything he is going to dwell on.
