In her career, Anita Baker has broken down doors, and proven she has staying power. Unfortunately, despite her greatness, even she couldn’t break certain barriers. Many artists have fought for their masters, Baker included.

Anita Baker has enjoyed the privilege of making money off her music. Decades later, she is still able to perform her songs for sold out crowds. The music she made is timeless, but she still hasn’t properly earned from it.

This morning, a fan shouted Anita Baker out, on Twitter, for her music. She went onto say she was streaming Anita on Spotify, which got a response from the legend. Making it clear she appreciated the fan, Anita Baker said she doesn’t want to promote Spotify, which is valued at $50 million, yet doesn’t properly pay artists, and also went onto say she legally owns her masters, but has yet to receive them.
