Yesterday, Angie Martinez shocked the hip hop world when she left her longtime radio home of Hot 97. Over the past three years, rival station Power 105.1 have made significant gains over Hot 97. Much of this credit goes to the success of the popular trio of “The Breakfast Club.”
Former Hot 97 DJ, DJ Envy, teamed up with Angela Yee and Charlamagne Tha God to form “The Breakfast Club.” DJ Clue is also a former Hot 97 DJ to join Power 105.1 and rumor had it that Angie Martinez would soon do the same thing. This rumor is no longer a rumor, however.
Angie Martinez is now a member of the Power 105.1 family and she will broadcast every afternoon there and on Miami’s 103.5 The Beat. Via press release, Angie Martinez said she was happy to join her new radio family. Immediately after she announced her Hot 97 departure, Angie Martinez was rumored to join Power 105.
