Many of the top executives in music started as artists, most-notably Jay Z, but Akon has been doing his thing, too. Before Drake took over and put on for Toronto, Akon had Kardinal Offishall on his label. Prior to this, Akon helped T-Pain and Lady Gaga gain establishment.
Akon made plenty of hits, himself, dominating from 2004 through 2006. During this time, Akon had singles of his own and he also had classic features, including “Soul Survivor” with Young Jeezy. Now, he is working with Young Greatness, New Orleans’ next star.
Recently, Akon stopped by “The Breakfast Club” with Young Greatness and talked to DJ Envy, Angela Yee, and Charlamagne Tha God about his new work. Akon spoke on Young Greatness putting his work in, teaming up with Uncle Murda, and more. He also discussed whether or not he signed Lady Gaga, not signing Drake, not winning awards, and more.
