Since 2014, Lifetime has made a staple out of turning hip hop stories into TV films. Their latest is Surviving Compton, the Michel’le biopic that is somewhat in response to Straight Outta Compton. The movie tells the story of Michel’le and her life with Dr. Dre and Suge Knight.
Michel’le (Rhyon Nicole Brown) was constantly beaten by Dr. Dre (Curtis Hamilton) in the movie. However, when Dre joined Death Row, Suge Knight (R. Marcos Taylor) stepped in. Soon, he was more abusive than Dr. Dre was.
Given how Dr. Dre offered more beatdowns more frequently and is portrayed as the “nice guy,” fans had no love for him. They have been trashing Dr. Dre all evening and into the morning. Now, they have cleverly re-titled the movie to Surviving Beats by Dre.
