Rightfully so, Eazy-E, NWA, and Ruthless Records are credited for putting West Coast hip hop on the map. However, there were several other figures who helped solidify the Los Angeles hip hop scene. Many of these other players also found themselves on the Ruthless roster, even after the departures of Ice Cube and Dr. Dre.

Above the Law was a group, comparable to NWA, which also provided a number of hits off two gold-selling albums for Ruthless Records. After the death of Eazy-E, which was the effective end of the Ruthless label, Above the Law moved on. Other labels the group called home included all-time Ruthless rival, Death Row Records, and Tommy Boy Records.

KMG rose to fame alongside the other members of Above the Law. Over the years, however, the crew has been overlooked. Yesterday, however, the spotlight returned to them with news of the death of KMG. Though the cause of his death has yet to be revealed, he will truly be missed as he was a pivotal player during an important period in hip hop history.
