This past weekend at ComplexCon Chicago, I was able to learn about a brand that has changed my outlook on the importance of being an organ donor.
83 Futures launched, with one goal in mind: to save lives. The only way to even be able to purchase any of their items, is if you sign up to be an organ donor. A single donor can save 8 lives with organs and heal 75 more with tissues. That’s 83 Futures.
There are approximately 114,000 people on the organ transplant waiting list. As the times change, fewer of the young generation are signing up to become organ donors because they aren’t getting their driver’s licenses. They are using ride share programs, like Uber and Lyft. Every 10 minutes, someone is added to the waiting list. 83 Futures is here to help those people in need.
At their ComplexCon launch, they featured limited edition t-shirts from Jeff Staple, Earl Mack, Nathan Kostechko and Naturel. Primitive gave 83 Futures skate decks to raffle off to fans, where we’re signed by Paul Rodriguez, Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon. Nicky Diamond signed a pair of Diamond SBs that was raffled off to a lucky fan as well.
After Complexcon, they will release additional limited product runs online of Jeff Staple, Naturel, Earl Mack and 686 pants with Naturel bone designs.
I was lucky enough to stop by their pop up booth at ComplexCon and saw the importance of being an organ donor first hand as I listened to Andrew Jones talk about his heart transplant. Had someone not been an organ donor, he wouldn’t be alive today.
The booth was complete with a larger than life game of Operation, created by Earl Mack. The booth was covered in Igloo coolers labeled with different organs that can be donated. Even celebrities like BJ The Chicago Kid and Bun B stopped by.
Check out some of the exclusive merchandise from 83 Futures and make sure you sign up to be an organ donor here.
