Last Friday, Nicki Minaj’s father, 64-year-old Robert Maraj, was killed after being struck in a hit-and-run incident in Long Island, NY. Not much information was available at the time as the suspect fled the scene quickly. Maraj soon passed away at a local hospital after tragically succumbing to his injuries.
According to TMZ, the suspect has been identified as 70-year-old Charles Polevich. He has since been arraigned and charged with two felonies, which are leaving scene of incident involving death of a person and tampering with or suppressing physical evidence.
Police revealed that Maraj was struck with a 1992 white Volvo at Roslyn Rd. and Raff Ave, which is in the village of Mineola. Maraj was going out for a walk at the time. Polevich then reportedly stood over Maraj and asked if he was okay before quickly returning to his vehicle and and leaving. He then started “avoiding intersections and did conceal his vehicle in the detached garage at his residence.”
As of now, Polevich remains in custody. Bail has been set at $250,000, he had to surrender his passport, and cannot leave the state of New York. Prayers go out to Nicki and her loved ones during this time.
