50 Cent’s 2003 Debut Album, “Get Rich Or Die Tryin’,” Reaches 2 Billion Spotify Streams

Over the last five years, 50 Cent has been known to be very funny on Instagram as well as winning big in television with his “Power” series on Starz. Power has received various spinoffs as it continues to dominate with every season. 50 initially entered the music industry back in 2003 though and he took over by storm with his debut studio album, “Get Rich Or Die Tryin‘.”

Get Rich Or Die Tryin’ had massive success as it debuted at number one on the BIllboard 200 chart. It was led by hit singles such as “21 Questions” and “In Da Club,” which was also a chart-topper on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Get Rich Or Die Tryin’ as a whole is almost diamond as it’s currently 9x platinum in the US.

Get Rich Or Die Tryin’ has now reached another significant milestone. According to Hip-Hop By The Numbers, it has now accumulated 2 billion streams on Spotify. Back in November, In Da Club’s music video also accumulated 1 billion view on YouTube. In 2021, it is also expected that Get Rich Or Die Tryin’ will reach that diamond certification by the RIAA as well. It’s impact is definitely being felt 18 years later.

In 2005, 50 also went on to release a film based on the title of the album. Get Rich Or Die Tryin’ the movie is still a fan-favorite as it’s still on heavy syndication in 2021. It didn’t do the numbers that the album did but nonetheless, that was the start of 50 entering the film industry as well.
