Rising 20-year-old Brooklyn rapper, Pop Smoke, was tragically shot and killed in mid-February in a Hollywood Hills home. Many believe that he was set up and others believe that he made a huge mistake by posting a bag that had the home’s address on it. This is a home that ‘Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’ star, Teddi Mellencamp, rented out.
Smoke released the sequel to 2019’s ‘Meet The Woo‘ mixtape that month as well which featured hits such as “Christopher Walking” and the “Dior” remix featuring Gunna. Smoke was building a solid relationship with 50 Cent prior to his passing and after the tragedy happened, 50 said that he’d executive produce Smoke’s debut studio album which would be released posthumously.
50 recently spoke with Ebro on Beats 1 radio and revealed that the album is still planning to be released later this month. He initially tried to recruit Drake, Roddy Ricch, and Post Malone for this project. For the artists who will be on the album, 50 only wants them if they are truly feeling the records that they would appear on.
“I definitely want to get Roddy Ricch and a few of the people that I know that would fit on these records organically,” he said. “I’m going to send it to them and I’m going to say, ‘Play it. Listen, if you don’t just feel like this is it, don’t even touch it. Please send it back, delete, and just move on.’ Because he had so many pieces set up that were so good that it’s not tough to put it together.”
