Atlanta is back on top of the rap game, but there is a new breed of stars representing the mecca of the South. Among the new faces in the game is 2 Chainz, who has risen to become one of the most-popular rappers in the game, period. 2 Chainz has dominated the mixtape scene in Atlanta for well over a year, gaining himself national fame.
Following in the footsteps of Ludacris, the head of his former label, DTP, 2 Chainz took matters into his own hands and entered a joint venture with Def Jam. Not only is 2 Chainz one of the rising big names in the industry, he is also developing artists for his new label, partnered with Def Jam. The first project will be his own debut album, Based on a T.R.U. Story.
Still riding the wave of B.o.B.’s Strange Clouds, which Bobby Ray said would be the album of the year, Atlanta is not lacking much confidence. Recently, 2 Chainz spoke on his album, which is due later this summer. Echoing similar statements of B.o.B., 2 Chainz said his upcoming album will be the album of the year.
