As part of Disturbing tha Peace’s Playaz Circle, 2 Chainz made a name for himself under the name, Tity Boi. Disturbing tha Peace was founded by Ludacris when he had trouble landing a record deal. Following the independent success of Incognegro, Ludacris was signed to Def Jam and his label was included in the deal.
While Ludacris was signed to Def Jam and Disturbing tha Peace was included in the deal, there were a few DTP artists who were signed to Capitol Records. Playaz Circle were among the DTP talents who were signed to the primary DTP/Def Jam label. In 2007, the Playaz Circle duo rose to the top of the game with their “Duffle Bag Boy” single, with Lil Wayne.
Over the following four years, Playaz Circle, and their members, remained out of the spotlight. However, Tity Boi re-emerged in 2011, appearing on a number of mixtape tracks. Toward the end of summer 2011, Tity Boi changed his name to 2 Chainz. Under the 2 Chainz moniker, his career took off, from a solo standpoint. During a recent interview, 2 Chainz announced he was looking for his own solo record deal. 2 Chainz appreciates Ludacris’ help, but he wanted to go after his own deal, as opposed to his DTP deal.
2 Chainz’ “Spend It” single is doing well and the Atlanta rapper is currently looking for a record deal. The Playaz Circle rapper is currently rumored to be close to signing with Def Jam.
