Hottie of the Week: DJ Miss Milan

DJ Miss MilanBy Stranga The Great
Hip Hop Vibe Staff Writer

A woman in charge and making it happen in New York City is none other than DJ Miss Milan. Not only is she one of the hardest working newer DJs on the market, she is owning the club scene. Indeed, a good look for DJ Miss Milan, as she grows.

DJ Miss Milan is one of the more unique beauties on the scene and she commands the crowd off skill, alone. However, it is hard to not get captivated by her looks. Nothing is sexier than a woman in charge, to hear most men say it, behind the scenes.

Usually, the Hottie of the Week segment only spotlights models, but the original intention of this section was to show beautiful women in charge. Once again, Rel Tha Don took over the interviewing and he spoke to DJ Miss Milan. In her interview, she discussed her DJ-ing career, her ethnic background, her DJ name, and much more.

Read the entire interview below:

How did you get the name DJ Miss Milan? It’s a name I gave myself actually, funny story one day i was watching this special on the most beautiful places to travel to and Milan, Italy happened to be one of them. So i sat there and was like that’s IT! That’s my name “Miss Milan,” Ican bring you somewhere you never been with music basically, (laughs) corny but it works for me.

What is your ethnic background and what kind of music you listened to growing up and how that influence you? My family is from all over the Caribbean, mostly Barbados, though, that’s where our roots are. Growing up, music has always been apart of my life from young, I’ve always been exposed to different type of music even as a little girl, I used to only go to sleep if classical music was playing in the background. My family loves reggae and soca so being exposed to that open my mind to the different sounds of music from all over. It influenced me a lot to make me become what I am today and that’s a DJ.

How long have you been DJ-ing and what kind of element of DJ-ing from radio personality to events that you truly enjoy? It’s so funny you ask that because literally only about a year and half almost two years now I’ve been officially DJ-ing professionally, people who hear me think I’ve been doing it for years. There’s no one specific kind of element I would say I like more than the other just because I truly love what I do, and my job is to make sure that people I’m playing for are having fun and know who I am at the end of it. I love radio though I won’t even lie I picture myself as the next or bigger than Angie Martinez who is great influence on my life.

On the internet, there’s footage of you dancing. When you are DJ-ing do you bust a move, naturally, or is it that you feel dancing with the crowd is a way to add energy to the event? I am the dancing DJ and honestly both reasons are why I dance, I love the music I’m playing, I love the reaction the people are giving me because of what I’m playing, so why not have fun and make sure everyone is enjoying themselves, that’s my job can’t stress it enough. I live to have fun and enjoy life and at a MissMilan event you will too.

What can we look forward to with the DJ Miss Milan brand any new ventures and music coming out soon? You can look forward to a lot of different ventures I plan to do, with music you can definitely check out my SoundCloud.com/DJMissMilan for any of my latest mix I produced, mixtapes I plan to put out, and working with talent and building the brand. I feel like I’m very talented anything I put my mind to, I can do it so the sky isn’t the limit for me but you all would just have to wait and see. Promise you won’t be waiting long, though.
