Cash Money Records made themselves the hottest label in the game, again, by knowing who the hottest artists were. By the summer of 2009, Drake and Nicki Minaj became the biggest mixtape artists in the game. Before the summer ended, they both inked deals with Young Money with Lil Wayne.
Meanwhile, Birdman managed to snag such veterans as Busta Rhymes, Bow Wow, and Mystikal to his label. However, Cash Money Records has been right there recruiting many other hot names. French Montana and Chief Keef are among the people Birdman wanted to add to YMCMB.
This year, however, Young Thug has made himself into one of the biggest breakout artists in the game. He has two singles out and Nicki Minaj jumped on one of the records, which has led to his momentum picking up. Now, Birdman is shouting Young Thug out on his Instagram, which makes it look as if he might attempt to sign Young Thug to the label.
