It’s been almost three months since rising Brooklyn rapper, Pop Smoke, was short and killed in a Hollywood Hills home owned by ‘Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’ star, Teddi Mellencamp and her husband, Edwin Arroyave. LAPD originally believed that it was a targeted hit but bumped into a delay into the investigation after witnesses refused to talk or didn’t provide accurate information.
Now, the LAPD is pointing to the COVID-19 pandemic as to why the investigation is still slow, according to TMZ. They added that they’re supposedly still meeting with people in attempts to gather more evidence in the case.
Pop Smoke’s album is releasing on June 12 and LAPD hope that after that, the buzz around this project will have witnesses speak up and provide the evidence needed. 50 Cent is supposedly still the executive producer of the album. He has since been recruiting stars such as Drake, Roddy Ricch & Post Malone as features. The initial album announcement date was made by Smoke’s manager, Steven Victor.
Smoke blew up as a star last summer with the release of his “Welcome To The Party” single which appeared on his debut ‘Meet The Woo’ mixtape. That ended up receiving remixes by Nicki Minaj and Skepta. The Meet The Woo sequel was released a week and a half before his murder. Welcome To The Party also just went gold and his “Dior” single went platinum.
