Platinum recording artist Twista is back with his new single “Tonite,” bringing us a relaxing and soulful sound. With clever samples and references to the late King of Pop Michael Jackson, Twista shows us how he ingeniously combines the 1980’s sound with the 2000’s upbeat culture to make a track we all can swing our hips too. Twista explained in a recent interview that he “.. heard that beat and when I started writing, I liked the way my rhymes were stacking on top of it. Then it has a Motown, Michael Jackson feel to it. It all clicked.” Leave it to Twista to bring two very iconic sounds together and make it blend flawlessly.
As you wait for his Summer 96 mixtape to drop in June, you can experience Twista’s music live on his “ Class of 96 Tour” which will be hitting the road in March and April. He will be joined by Do Or Die, Crucial Conflict, as well as Shawnna and PsychoDrama. This tour is bringing together many great artists, and as Twista has remarked, “on one level, it’s all of the homies. On another level, it’s a lot of the artists from the West Side of Chicago. On another level, it’s a lot of artists from my particular era and we don’t usually get together and do a lot of stuff like this. But every time we do, we have a ball and everybody kills it. They all bring a fierce delivery when they do their thing.” In the meantime, show Twista the same love he’s showing his fans and his city and turn up that volume while listening to “TONITE.”
