Last year, it was Rick Ross, Young Jeezy, Gunplay, 50 Cent, and Mike Knox who turned out the BET Hip Hop Awards. Ironically, hip hop was going through a pretty mild year during that period of time, but this year tensions have been high. A month before the 2013 BET Hip Hop Awards took place, Kendrick Lamar went off.
His verse on “Control” showcased Kendrick Lamar going at the throats of Drake and all his other peers in the game. In Drake’s case, his album release was coming up and it was the main question in the interviews. Drake, in other words, said he wasn’t going to give Kendrick Lamar the satisfaction of a response.
On Nothing Was The Same, a lot of shots were taken and people felt Drake might have dissed Kendrick Lamar. Birdman later denied Drake taking shots at Kendrick Lamar because of his relationship with TDE. But, now people feel as if Kendrick Lamar might’ve taken shots at Drake in his cypher for the 2013 BET Hip Hop Awards.
