What some get confused about Los Angeles is that it is both a city and a county. While the city does have districts, it’s not like New York City. Places like Compton, Inglewood, and Long Beach are separate cities, just in LA County.

Many rappers, by default, even the Compton ones, are classified as LA rappers. This is both true and untrue, but here is Dre Pe$o, of Inglewood. The city of Inglewood is best-known as Mack 10’s hometown, but that’s changing.

Dre Pe$o represents the new generation of Inglewood, but he puts on for the Greater Los Angeles area. This is a favorite son that all of the cities will want to claim, too. Over the past year, Dre Pe$o has been making serious noise, as he went all-in on music, in 2020.

The results for him have been phenomenal, as Dre Pe$o dropped his single, “My Love,” to much fanfare, leading to bookings. He would perform another well-known track of his, “Whippin My Wrist,” in Houston, which really led to his music exploding. Since the “My Love” release, two months ago, on SoundCloud, the record has done 1.1 million streams.

Not only this, but Dre Pe$o has other singles, “Wake Up” and “666,” both of which are doing well. In just three months, “Wake Up” has done 33,000 streams, while “666” is at 530,000 in just three weeks. This success followed a bit of a rough childhood, for Pe$o, consisting of time spent in juvenile, and eventually dropping out of school.

Ultimately, success through academics wasn’t in the cards for Dre Pe$o, who remembers his father playing West Coast legends, such as Eazy-E, Tupac, Ice Cube, Dr. Dre, and Snoop Dogg. This would eventually spark the mind for Dre Pe$o to pick up a microphone, himself, and the rest is history. His work caught the attention of many, and now Dre Pe$o is the West Coast’s next big thing.
