When thinking of the 1990s in hip hop and R&B, Montell Jordan cannot be overlooked. In 1995, the Def Soul artist claimed his rightful place in history with “This is How We Do It.” Throughout the year of 1995, the song was a club banger. Other than during throwback hours on urban radio at noon, no one expected “This is How We Do It” to be relevant in the 2000s.

Billionaire Boyscout is synonymous with 2012 music, as he has produced for French Montana, Sir Michael Rocks, and A$AP Rocky, among others. Producing French Montana’s “Choppa Choppa Down” breakout hit, Billionaire Boyscout is a household name. Expanding his own work, Billionaire Boyscout has a new Friday series, #TwerknToTheOldies.

On the latest edition of this series, Billionaire Boyscout did the unthinkable and he remade the 1995 hit from Montell Jordan, “This is How We Do It.” Montell Jordan, himself, borrowed the beat from the legendary Slick Rick, speeding it up. “Children’s Story” is the sample Montell Jordan used for his hit single.
