Atlanta has longtime been a hotbed for hip hop and since 2011, the city has been overflowing with budding hip hop stars. A lot of Atlanta artists have burst onto mainstream radio and media with their hits, meanwhile Chill Will has built street fan bases equal to, if not bigger, through his mixtapes. Chill Will is a force.
DJ Junior already stamped Chill Will on Artists to Know and he has hosted mixtapes from countless DJs. Obviously, Chill Will is becoming a hot commodity and his single, “Certain Way,” is a viral hit. In addition to his mixtape success and his viral hit, what sticks out is Chill Will’s circle of friends.
Only naming a few, but Future, Ca$h Out, Trinidad James, Rich Homie Quan, and Migos all have been breakout stars over the past few years. All it takes is one look through Chill Will’s Instagram and there are photos of him alongside all of those rappers, as they are friends. Chill Will also has a song out with the Migos.
Everything appears set for Chill Will, as he is running in the right circles and he has the support of the DJs. Those who listen to the mixtapes from DJ Junior, DJ Jay Rock, Trap-A-Holics, and the others have compared Chill Will to another East Atlanta rapper who came up on mixtapes, Gucci Mane. As Chill Will told Hip Hop Vibe last month, he likes the comparisons to Gucci Mane because he is being compared to success.
With the comparisons and the friendships with the fellow breakout artists, Chill Will is preparing to drop his next mixtape, I Am East Atlanta. In the case of all the others, it has been a breakout mixtape that helped put them into a prime position in the game. Chill Will has DJ Scream, Ray G, and DJ Ace hosting his next mixtape, which will undoubtedly be a success, but will this mixtape contain what will make Chill Will the next Atlanta breakout star?
