White supremacists are sadly everywhere in America, even at the most diverse university in the nation. According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, a note was recently written in a bathroom stall at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas saying that a school shooting would take place on October 16.
The person added that they want to hang black people and target Bernie Sanders supporters.This resulted in some classes being canceled on October 16 as many students didn’t feel same coming to campus at all.
UNLV’s campus remained open as spokeswoman Cindy Brown said they offered flexibility for students who didn’t want to come due to safety concerns. University Police Services, local law enforcement and the FBI are investigating to see who wrote the frightening note. The threat was labeled as “not credible” and more officers will be on campus next week.
In addition to a myriad of classes being canceled, midterm exams were rescheduled as well. Samantha Solano, a professor of landscape architecture, was one of the professors who decided to cancel classes. She simply didn’t want students to choose between their safety and going to class.
“We shouldn’t ask students to choose between their safety and getting an education. Those whose classes were not canceled might feel obligated to make that decision and choose to come to class because they might miss something important that could hurt them later on,” said Solano. “There is nothing that could be so imperative to have to make that decision.”
I’m an alum of UNLV and it’s disgusting to know that idiot MAGA people like this find their way on campus. Hopefully, authorities are able to track this person down and prosecute them to the fullest. Hate like this should have no place on a college campus or America in general.
