Summer Walker has definitely done everything possible to get into the headlines over the past month and a half. At the end of September, her long-awaited debut album ‘Over It’ was released which met the expectations of fans of the R&B star. Since then though, she’s faced negative reactions from things such as her public breakup/reconciliation with boyfriend/producer London On Da Track, her saying she doesn’t like to shower and instead, washes herself in a bowl, and not putting effort into her concerts.
Fans have said Walker has an attitude at the shows, doesn’t show energy, and only performs a few songs at festivals. They’ve also said she shows no energy or happiness at her meet and greets after the concerts. She’s said before that she has anxiety and is an introvert. Nonetheless, these fans deserve what they paid for.
Walker is now addressing the backlash on social media. She took to Instagram to thank the fans who showed up to meet her at the meet and greets as she loves that they share their stories, she compliments them and tells them thank you. She did say that for the ones who are mad that she doesn’t give hugs, she’s an empath and that kind of transferral of energy from that many people each day would literally kill her.
We may not know what goes on behind the scenes with Walker emotionally but she signed up to be in this industry and to show fans love at these type of events. A lot of people are huge fans of hers and that respect should be reciprocated. She is currently on her ‘First and Last Tour’ and it looks like she’s really living up to that tour name.
