Attorneys for the prosecutors said that Kelly was a flight risk and also a serious danger of obstruction of justice. Kelly’s girlfriends Joycelyn Savage and Azriel Clary were also in the courtroom supporting him and were silent leaving it after the judge’s decision.

Kelly’s crimes with underage girls were exposed on Lifetime’s docuseries “Surviving R. Kelly” in January. Since then, he’s been investigated for crimes in Georgia, New York, and his home state of Illinois. These current charges should be enough to get him locked up for a very long time. He has a 13-count incitement in Illinois regarding underaged girls and racketeering in NY as well.
