YRS Jerzy’s Wednesday Throwback: Kandi – “Don’t Think I’m Not”

By YRS Jerzy

Back in 2000, Kandi Burruss was just beginning to build her business empire. After helping write TLC’s “No Scrubs” and Destiny’s Child’s hit single, “Bills, Bills, Bills,” Kandi focused on her own music. Freshly removed from Xscape, she decided to go solo.

Kandi dropped Hey Kandi…, her solo debut album, in 2000. Late in the summer, Kandi dropped “Don’t Think I’m Not,” her debut single, which became a hit. The song, like the album, kind of came and went, which was followed by Kandi focusing more on songwriting and business.

This week, the team decided to reflect back on Kandi. While she is now known as the Old Lady Gang restaurant CEO, Kandi has done it all, starting with music. Looking back on her own work, “Don’t Think I’m Not” is this week’s Wednesday Throwback.
