Are The 2016 Golden State Warriors the most-disappointing team in NBA history?

CavschampionshiphighlightsvidNever in the history of the NBA has there been a team hyped the way the 2016 Golden State Warriors were. The surprise team of the previous season, the Warriors convincingly won the 2015 championship. Due to being young and inexperienced, many pundits wrote them off.

However, coming into this season, the Warriors had a championship to backup their unique style of play. Until the playoffs, the Warriors looked to be locks as champions. A Steph Curry injury changed things and then the Oklahoma City Thunder almost took them out.

By this afternoon, a week ago, most expected to be discussing the budding Warriors’ dynasty. Coming into the series, the biggest debate was who would win the NBA Finals MVP award, as fans felt Curry needed to step up. In the midst of falling behind 3-1 to the Warriors, LeBron James allegedly told Steph the crown still belonged to him.

Without getting into so much detail, the fact is this, the Golden State Warriors finished 73-9 and Draymond Green bragged about them “having” to beat that record. When Michael Jordan and the Bulls did it, they just worked and, when it was over, they won the title. But, the Warriors are heading into the offseason with questions like every other team that didn’t win the championship, this season.

Meanwhile, the Cleveland Cavaliers win the 2016 NBA Championship. They join the likes of the 2004 Detroit Pistons, the 2006 Miami Heat, the 1995 Houston Rockets, the 2011 Dallas Mavericks, and a handful of others as the surprise NBA champions. This week, Hip Hop Vibe will recount all the other disappointing teams expected to win championships, but came up short.

But, the question remains, are the 2016 Golden State Warriors the most-disappointing team in NBA history?
