Almost ten years in the making, Papoose finally released The Nacirema Dream. Much like other rappers who faced major label delays, Papoose independently released his album through Fontana Distribution. Last year, Ja Rule released his album through the distribution company.
Elements of the “old New York” are evident on The Nacirema Dream, as Papoose turned to Dame Grease, DJ Kay Slay, and DJ Premier for production. But, Papoose also kept his album current, boasting Ron Browz as a producer, too. Papoose releasing this album and under the same title is a testament to his dedication.
The Nacirema Dream includes a wide array of tracks and boasts features from Jadakiss and Mobb Deep, while sampling Etta James. From start to finish, Papoose delivered a solid album. Songs to look out for are “Faith,” “6am,” with Jim Jones and Jadakiss, “Cure,” with Erykah Badu, and of course the “Alphabetical Slaughter” that closes the album.
