On October 21, T.I. will release his ninth studio album, Paperwork, his first project released under Columbia Records. He signed with the record label in November 2013 and immediately began working on the album. So far, “About the Money,” “No Mediocre” and “New National Anthem” have leaked from the album.
T.I. released the artwork and track listing recently and there are some anticipated collaborations on the feature heavy album. This album has songs with Chris Brown, Iggy Azalea, Rick Ross, Nipsey Hussle, Skylar Grey, Usher, Victoria Monet, The-Dream and Pharell Williams, to name a few. Pharell also acts as executive producer on the album.
While Pharrell is over the project, T.I. has some key players handling production on this album. There are tracks produced by DJ Mustard, Timbaland, Tommy Brown, and B.o.B., not to mention several others. Because it’s T.I. and because of who is featured, the album has the setup to be one of the year’s biggest releases.
On September 23, 2014, Paperwork was made available for pre-order with “New National Anthem,” coming off the media storm surrounding the Michael Brown shooting in Ferguson, available for immediate download. After the success of that promotion, T.I. also offered the title track “Paperwork” as an instant download as well. T.I. is going for a cinematic feel for this new album and he has a lot riding on it, seeing how he wanted millions to create this album.
