Cardi B’s 2020 Smash Hit Single, “WAP,” Featuring Megan Thee Stallion, Officially Certified 5x Platinum

Cardi B broke a huge record in the early hours of Tuesday morning and that’s her 2017 breakout hit single, “Bodak Yellow,” being certified diamond by the RIAA in the US. This single became the first ever female rap song to reach this accomplishment. Now, she has another historic plaque on the way.

Cardi’s “WAP” single featuring Megan Thee Stallion from 2020 is now certified 5x platinum by the RIAA in the US. This is after selling 5 million units, according to Chart Data. Following its initial release last August, it went on to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

WAP’s music video also went viral due to its creativity and cameos. Some of the notable appearances included Kylie Jenner, Normani, and Mulatto. This record received controversial debates as well, specifically from Republicans. Knowing Cardi though, she didn’t let this negative criticism affect her as she continued to win big.

Now, the wait is on regarding Cardi’s sophomore album. Currently, there is no official release date for it nor a title. She is planning to finally put it out in 2021, though. It’s been almost three years since her chart-topping debut studio album, “Invasion Of Privacy,” was released.
